As former Texas Tech quarterback Behren Morton continues to work so that he can get a shot to hopefully continue his career at the next level, the Red Raiders’ signal caller shared a pretty cool detail about his NFL draft prep work.

During his pro day in Lubbock, Morton noted that he’d been preparing for the NFL draft up in Kansas City, which is interesting because there’s another former Texas Tech quarterback who lives near that area and is pretty famous. And as it turns out, Morton noted that he’s been able to connect with Mahomes ahead of the draft.

Apparently, Mahomes is continuing his work rehabbing from injury all while Morton works out in hopes of a team giving him a shot in the draft.

After his pro day showing, Morton spoke with some media members and stated that he’s been preparing up in Kansas City. That led to some questions from the media about whether or not Morton had worked with Mahomes.

“His trainer, my agent, all the same dudes,” Morton said. “So it was just like he was coming with their guys down. But it’s pretty cool, like Pat does his rehab while I work out.”

Given all that Mahomes has accomplished, it seems like a pretty good idea for Morton to learn just about as much as he possibly can from this unique opportunity.

Throughout Morton’s time with Texas Tech, the former starting quarterback for the Red Raiders managed to complete just shy of 63 percent of his passes for his career for 8989 yards and 71 touchdowns while only throwing 28 interceptions.

While training in the same space as Mahomes likely won’t solve all the problems in the world for Morton, there’s plenty that he can learn, I’m sure. On top of that, I’m certainly on board with folks showing support for the injured quarterback and the formerly injured quarterback.
