The Big 12 is such an interesting conference this season. There’s such a beautiful mess at the top of the Big 12 men’s basketball standings and it’s because of how much talent is concentrated right at the top in the upper tier of the conference.

It’s a fascinating thing to watch because even though the conference as a whole is really solid and impressive, it’s particularly impressive that there’s so many good teams fighting for the top spot in this conference.

The Arizona Wildcats currently hold a decent little lead at the top of the Big 12, but there are four teams with identical Big 12 conference records right after them. And all of this is happening as the regular season is starting to wind down.

With Tuesday’s games all wrapped up, here’s what the Big 12 men’s basketball standings look like with Arizona on top and then a bunch of teams chasing right behind the Wildcats after that.

Big 12 men’s basketball standings update: Arizona still claims top spot

  1. Arizona Wildcats - 26-2 overall, 13-2 Big 12
  2. Iowa State Cyclones - 24-4 overall, 11-4 Big 12
  3. Houston Cougars - 23-5 overall, 11-4 Big 12
  4. Kansas Jayhawks - 21-7 overall, 11-4 Big 12
  5. Texas Tech Red Raiders - 21-7 overall, 11-4 Big 12
  6. BYU Cougars - 10-7 overall, 8-6 Big 12
  7. UCF Knights - 19-7 overall, 8-6 Big 12
  8. TCU Horned Frogs - 17-10 overall, 7-7 Big 12
  9. West Virginia Mountaineers - 16-12 overall, 7-8 Big 12
  10. Cincinnati Bearcats - 15-13 overall, 7-8 Big 12
  11. Colorado Buffaloes - 15-12 overall, 5-9 Big 12
  12. Arizona State Sun Devils- 14-13 overall, 5-9 Big 12
  13. Oklahoma State Cowboys - 17-11 overall, 5-10 Big 12
  14. Baylor Bears - 14-14 overall, 4-11 Big 12
  15. Kansas State Wildcats - 11-16 overall, 2-12 Big 12
  16. Utah Utes - 10-18 overall, 2-13 Big 12

It sure looks like the Arizona Wildcats will be able to take home the regular season Big 12 title as they’ve got a two-game advantage on that crop of teams that are all vying for No. 2 in the conference. Right now, that includes the Iowa State Cyclones, Houston Cougars, Kansas Jayhawks, and then the TExas Tech Red Raiders.

All of this also makes Saturday’s game a bit more interesting as the Red Raiders are lined up to play against the Iowa State Cyclones on Saturday.
