If you love the Air Raid, the legacy left behind by Mike Leach, the Big 12, and college football in general, you should be watching the Alamo Bowl this season. Because it’s the perfect opportunity to watch two of the best passing attacks in the country meet up.
Sonny Dykes and the TCU Horned Frogs aren’t having to travel too far to play one more game this season, but Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans are having to fly pretty far to compete in the Alamo Bowl this season.
Both of these teams looked pretty solid at times throughout the season, but both clearly weren’t ready to compete among the best teams in the country this year. The Horned Frogs stumbled against a few teams that they probably should have beaten while the Trojans were unable to beat some of the tougher teams on their schedule.
And that led to the two teams facing off in San Antonio. I mean, I find myself grateful for this matchup. I think it’ll be fun. I also think it could help set each of these teams up with a bit of momentum heading into the offseason.

Both of these head coaches were developed as part of the Mike Leach Air Raid coaching tree and both spent very meaningful time with the Texas Tech Red Raiders. This is certainly a game that is a must watch for folks who love the Big 12 (and passing offenses thriving in college football).
