With the college football offseason continuing and no games set to be played for literally months, many college football fans are going to start looking ahead to what next season might hold. That includes trying to take a look at the schedules for next season and guessing, prognosticating, and arguing over a number of different things at the proverbial water cooler.
Like which team has a tough schedule and who is set for the college football playoff and why some teams are actually overrated. You know, important things.
Thankfully, the Big 12 has gifted us with the perfect opportunity to start that sort of arguing sooner rather than later. The Big 12 has shared its schedule for next season (minus the kickoff times, of course).
Let’s go ahead and take a look at what people think about the 2026 Big 12 college football schedule.
Big 12 football fans sound off on the conference as the 2026 college football schedule has been released
Here’s how Big 12 football fans are reacting as the conference has shared with the 2026 college football schedule looks like:
Im already ready for next season https://t.co/4Bz9ou14HR

While some folks are thrilled and ready to get to the next season (which feels a little silly because there’s so much to celebrate and enjoy between now and then, like the remainder of the men’s and women’s college basketball seasons, college baseball season, and college softball season), others aren’t really all that happy with the way the schedule is set up.
Looking at this reminds me once again how asinine it was to have K-State come back from Ireland and not have a week off until mid-September.

Arizona State, Kansas & TCU all going overseas in 2026. All three immediately have a bye once they return. https://t.co/9O5lmjOmtu
Which, you know, if the Big 12 gave my favorite team that sort of draw, I wouldn’t be thrilled at all.
When it seems that every team has an easy schedule you might just be in a bad conference https://t.co/nmJwL5nTvL

Alternatively, some folks are quick to share that they believe that the Big 12 doesn’t really have a particularly, overly strenuous schedule for really anyone. And I think that might be a fair criticism when it comes to football. I think the conference is working to improve, but there’s still work to be done in terms of overall quality.
That said, the recent coaching hires that were made? That should help. Getting more innovative coaches in this conference will certainly make the games more interesting.
So I guess Governor Yormark gave Farmageddon at least a one year stay of execution?

It’s actually sad we don’t have a rival week
— Josh (@ElliottFan52) January 21, 2026
Things the Big 12 can do sooner rather than later: improve and protect the rivalries in the conference. Because the way the sport has changed with realignment, things have shifted in the overall quality of rivalries.
And the fact that some folks don’t have a true “rivalry week” is an issue. The Big 12 still has some work to do on keeping rivalries going and ensuring that everyone in this Island of Misfit Toys conference has a rivalry game set up.

BYU and Tech in the Championship looks pretty secure!
— Tom Gibbons (@TGibby2024) January 21, 2026
And we’ve got some predictions! I don’t think any Texas Tech fans are all that upset with the way the schedule looks. They might be disappointed that it isn’t a little more challenging, but another trip to the Big 12 championship and the College Football Playoff sounds good to me.
