Folks, I’m sure you’ll be surprised to learn that the rest of the Big 12 isn’t all that sympathetic to Cody Campbell or the Texas Tech football team right now. Rival Big 12 fanbases seem to have a very different take on what Campbell is trying to do with fighting back against the conference as the Texas Tech Red Raiders might end up playing on a Friday night.
While Texas Tech football fans have largely rallied behind Campbell, other fanbases are a bit different in the way they view this particular feud between the Chairman for Texas Tech’s Board of Regents and Brett Yormark, the commissioner for the Big 12.
While the current issue between Campbell and Yormark is rooted in whether or not the Red Raiders (or any other college football team in Texas) should be playing a game on Friday nights given the cultural importance of playing high school football on Friday nights throughout much of the state, folks across the conference aren’t thrilled with the Red Raiders right now.
Big 12 fans push back on Cody Campbell’s scheduling complaints for the Texas Tech Red Raiders
In fact, it really looks like Big 12 football fans believe the Red Raiders are acting entitled and in a way that they don’t deserve.

Texas Tech is suddenly acting like the school they have hated for decades. At least UT had the history & pedigree to back it up

Texas leaves the Big 12 and Tech just… turns into Texas. Great. https://t.co/eHM685E47B

Yeah... The comparisons to the University of Texas were sure to come. I’m not surprised about that. Not at all. With the way Texas fans acted while they were members of the Big 12, it shouldn’t shock anyone that this sort of comparison would come up.
anyone who's lived in texas knows cody campbell is right: do not mess with the religion of texas high school football.

and you especially do not put a top-15 game on a friday night. texas tech fans have a right to be mad.
brett yormark makes some very out-of-touch statements. pic.twitter.com/RMvEnBIaF7
Not everyone in the Big 12 is trying to pile on the Red Raiders right now. Some see the validity in Campbell’s arguments. But, uh, a lot of folks aren’t happy with Campbell or Texas Tech right now.
There is no one less deserving of the hubris they currently have than Texas Tech.

No, the Big 12 does not run through Lubbock, in anything.
You won your first outright Conference Championship since the Eisenhower administration and then got embarrassed in the playoff.
Shut up.
Funny how Texas Tech spent DECADES complaining about Texas A&M and Texas making the conference bend to their will.

Now the shoe is on the other foot and now you are out here just constantly complaining when you don’t get your way.
Texas Tech now thinks they’re Nick Sabans Alabama teams after 1 conference championship in over 30 years.

That last one kinda stings a bit.
There’s no way that Big 12 football fans will be letting go of this one any time soon. They’re going to be latching on to this for the entirety of the upcoming Texas Tech football season (and likely longer than that).
