Friday night’s shutout win over the Arizona State Sun Devils is keeping Gerry Glasco and the Texas Tech softball team in a solid spot as the regular season continues to wind down.

It’s fascinating. Texas Tech has managed to accumulate an .895 winning percentage in league play and the Red Raiders are 9-1 on the road in conference play. This team is just flat out really good and it doesn’t really matter much about who they’re playing or where they’re playing.

Behind them sit the Arizona Wildcats, who look really impressive as well but are just having a hard time keeping up with the Red Raiders. Oklahoma State and Kansas have both proven to be pretty impressive as well and the UCF Knights have shown some potential.

Here’s where every Big 12 team stands after the Texas Tech Red Raiders crushed Arizona State on Friday

And with that game one win on the road against Arizona State, here’s how the Big 12 looks right now:

  • Texas Tech Red Raiders - 45-4 overall, 17-2 Big 12
  • Arizona Wildcats - 32-13 overall, 13-6 Big 12
  • Oklahoma State Cowgirls - 32-12 overall, 12-7 Big 12
  • Kansas Jayhawks - 31-16 overall, 12-8 Big 12
  • UCF Knights - 35-13-1 overall, 12-8-1 Big 12
  • Baylor Bears - 27-21 overall, 9-10 Big 12
  • Utah Utes - 32-17-1 overall, 8-11-1 Big 12
  • Arizona State Sun Devils - 35-14 overall, 8-11 Big 12
  • Iowa State Cyclones - 27-19 overall, 7-11 Big 12
  • BYU Cougars - 17-30 overall, 6-14 Big 12
  • Houston Cougars - 20-29 overall, 3-19 Big 12

Texas Tech still owns that four-game lead over the second place Arizona Wildcats, which is nice to see given how few games actually remain on the regular season schedule at this point.

Unless something shocking happens a few times over, we’re not far away from it becoming mathematically impossible for Arizona to surpass Texas Tech.
