Well, the Oregon State Beavers sure made things difficult for Willie Fritz and the Houston Cougars on Friday night. Oregon State, one of the two surviving programs from the Pac-12 apocalypse, was able to create plenty of headaches for UH in a late night game that kicked off at 9:30 for the folks back home in the Bayou City that wanted to watch the Cougars play Oregon State.
Houston had a scare, fell behind 14-0, and then was able to steadily climb back into the game. Eventually, the Coogs upended the Beavers and secured a 27-24 win over Oregon State in overtime. Fritz and Houston got one step closer to making a bowl game while simultaneously staying unbeaten.
Oregon State, on the other hand, is still winless. And that’s not much fun for the Beavers to be in that sort of situation.

- West Virginia Mountaineers (2-2 overall, 0-1 Big 12)
- Kansas State Wildcats (1-3 overall, 0-1 Big 12)
This win was pretty important for Houston, but it doesn’t drastically impact the way things look in the Big 12 for the Houston Cougars or really anyone else. It just helps the Coogs get closer to making it to a bowl, which is good for UH, but that doesn’t have a wide ranging impact across the conference.
