Well, if any Texas Tech fan was expecting the BYU Cougars to struggle after losing to the Red Raiders last weekend, they can probably go ahead and take a deep breath. Because BYU didn’t just roll over and give up. The Cougars still look really, really impressive. And if I had to guess, this particular BYU football team would really, really like to win the Big 12 this season.
I mean, the Cougars welcomed the TCU Horned Frogs to Provo, Utah and simply had no issue shutting down a TCU offense that has been among the best in the Big 12 all throughout the season. BYU also managed to find plenty of life on the offensive side of things.
And when you get an offense working well while also doing a great job of shutting down your opponent’s offense, then a 44-13 win over TCU is bound to happen. Which is exactly what happened for the Cougars. BYU is now just a short step behind Texas Tech and the Cougars certainly have the potential to be a problem for the Red Raiders if we get a rematch in Arlington.

It would have been really nice if Sonny Dykes had found a way to help Texas Tech out a bit here. Just getting a win over the Cougars would have really helped the Red Raiders create a bit of separation at the top of the Big 12 standings, which would have been appreciated.
And I’m sure folks in Houston, Cincinnati, Tempe, and Salt Lake City all would have appreciated seeing BYU lose to TCU on Saturday as well.
