After getting pummeled by the Texas Tech Red Raiders earlier in the week, the Cincinnati Bearcats had the opportunity to go about pummeling someone else this afternoon. It really is impressive the way that the Bearcats got back to their winning ways, securing a 91-68 victory over the Oklahoma State Cowboys back home in Ohio on Saturday.

Truly, this was an impressive win for Cincinnati. The Bearcats managed to jump out to a 51-33 halftime lead and then really never struggled after that. The Bearcats, at one point, led by 32 points over Oklahoma State.

With this win, Cincinnati is now sitting at 8-8 in conference play and the Bearcats have been particularly impressive at home, going 14-3 in Fifth Third Arena. For Oklahoma State, this loss moves the Cowboys to 5-11 in conference play this year.

And I mean, there needs to be a case study done on this. It really is astonishing how much Oklahoma State has had issues against Big 12 teams this season. They’re 17-12 overall and 5-11 in conference play. So, if I‘m doing my math correctly, they were 12-1 outside of conference play. And they’ve collapsed since then.

Big 12 men’s basketball standings after Cincinnati absolutely crushed that Oklahoma State Cowboys

With that lopsided win in Cincinnati’s favor, here’s what things look like for the Big 12 men’s basketball standings:

  • Arizona Wildcats - 26-2 overall, 13-2 Big 12
  • Houston Cougars - 24-5 overall, 12-4 Big 12
  • Iowa State Cyclones - 24-4 overall, 11-4 Big 12
  • Kansas Jayhawks - 21-7 overall, 11-4 Big 12
  • Texas Tech Red Raiders - 21-7 overall, 11-4 Big 12
  • UCF Knights - 20-7 overall, 8-6 Big 12
  • BYU Cougars - 20-8 overall, 8-7 Big 12
  • TCU Horned Frogs - 18-10 overall, 8-7 Big 12
  • Cincinnati Bearcats - 16-13 overall, 8-8 Big 12
  • West Virginia Mountaineers - 16-12 overall, 7-8 Big 12
  • Colorado Buffaloes - 16-13 overall, 6-10 Big 12
  • Arizona State Sun Devils- 14-14 overall, 5-10 Big 12
  • Oklahoma State Cowboys - 17-12 overall, 5-11 Big 12
  • Baylor Bears - 14-14 overall, 4-11 Big 12
  • Kansas State Wildcats - 11-17 overall, 2-13 Big 12
  • Utah Utes - 10-18 overall, 2-13 Big 12

This game didn’t have drastic impacts on the Big 12 standings in really any sort of way, but it still happened and allows me to continue my confusion over this Oklahoma State men’s basketball team.
