The second edition of the Scott Frost era of UCF Football isn’t exactly looking all that great right now. In Frost’s first year back in Orlando, the UCF Knights are one loss away from not making it to a bowl game and they’ve got a game in a couple weeks with the BYU Cougars in Provo, Utah.

But we're not here to solely focus on the UCF Knights and the way they keep dropping in the Big 12 standings. We’re also here to talk about how the Texas Tech Red Raiders are clinging tightly to the top spot in the Big 12 standings.

After handling business against the Knights (shoutout to Saturday’s 48-9 Senior Day victory over UCF), Joey McGuire and Texas Tech are now 10-1 overall and 7-1 in Big 12 play. Which, you know, is really, really good.

Big 12 football standings after the Texas Tech Red Raiders managed to shut down Scott Frost and the UCF Knights in Lubbock

Here’s how the Big 12 standings looked after the Red Raiders secured a lopsided Senior Day win over the UCF Knights:

  • Texas Tech Red Raiders (10-1 overall, 7-1 Big 12)
  • BYU Cougars (8-1 overall, 5-1 Big 12)
  • Houston Cougars (8-2 overall, 5-2 big 12)
  • Cincinnati Bearcats (7-3 overall, 5-2 Big 12)
  • Arizona State Sun Devils (7-3 overall, 5-2 Big 12)
  • Utah Utes (7-2 overall, 4-2 Big 12)
  • Kansas State Wildcats (5-5 overall, 4-3 Big 12)
  • Arizona Wildcats (7-3 overall, 4-3 Big 12)
  • TCU Horned Frogs (6-3 overall, 3-3 Big 12)
  • Baylor Bears (5-4 overall, 3-3 Big 12)
  • Iowa State Cyclones (6-4 overall, 3-4 Big 12)
  • Kansas Jayhawks (5-5 overall, 3-4 Big 12)
  • West Virginia Mountaineers (4-7 overall, 2-6 Big 12)
  • UCF Knights (4-6 overall, 1-6 Big 12)
  • Colorado Buffaloes (3-7 overall, 1-6 Big 12)
  • Oklahoma State Cowboys (1-9 overall, 0-7 Big 12)

Texas Tech is truly currently in control of the Big 12 at the moment and that’s incredibly encouraging to see as the Big 12 championship game gets closer and closer. The Red Raiders are in a great spot with regards to that and then also the College Football Playoff picture. All that’s left ahead on Texas Tech’s schedule is a bye week and the West Virginia Mountaineers (who aren’t very good).
