Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech Red Raiders have accomplished quite a bit so far this season and it sure looks like more and more folks are fully accepting just how good this team is. The Red Raiders have been dominant all throughout the season, securing each of their 10 wins so far by over 20 points.

Yes, there is the road loss to Arizona State that stings a bit, but that hasn’t derailed the Red Raiders. And because Texas Tech is still winning and riding a bit of momentum, they’re pretty much set for the College Football Playoff as long as they avoid stumbling down the stretch.

So far, it looks like they’re capable of doing just that. And the Red Raiders are being rewarded for that. Following the Red Raiders’ dominant Week 12 win over the UCF Knights, CBS Sports is now projecting Texas Tech to make it into the College Football Playoff as the No. 5 overall seed.

CFP projections, Week 13: CBS Sports projects Texas Tech to make College Football Playoff, set to face North Texas Mean Green

In addition to Texas Tech’s stellar season being rewarded, it also looks like the Red Raiders might get to meet up with a fellow team from Texas in these projections. The good folks over at CBS Sports are projecting the Red Raiders to meet up with Eric Morris and the North Texas Mean Green to get the College Football Playoffs started.

I, for one, welcome this. I need it. I really, really want to see what Morris and North Texas can do in the College Football Playoff and I’d love to see how Mack Leftwich’s offense can do against the Mean Green defense.

And the inverse is true as well. I’d love to see how the Red Raiders can slow a North Texas offense that has been incredible all season long. It’s a matchup I didn’t know I needed and now I need to see it sooner rather than later.
