While the Texas Tech Red Raiders are competing for a shot in the College Football Playoff, Joey McGuire and his team aren’t the only folks from the Big 12 hoping to have some fun in the postseason this season.
Right now, Texas Tech is the leader in the Big 12 when it comes to trying to get into the College Football Playoff this season. And as long as the Red Raiders get there and look solid, then this experiment would work out well for Texas Tech.
But again, there are other teams in the conference that would like to have some fun in the postseason and that doesn’t, in totality, define the Red Raiders.
Here’s where everyone from the Big 12 is landing, according to CBS Sports’ bowl projections.

- Arizona State Sun Devils - Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl vs. Georgia Tech
- Arizona Wildcats - Arizona Bowl vs. Fresno State Bulldogs
- Houston Cougars - Valero Alamo Bowl vs. USC Trojans
- Cincinnati Bearcats - Texas Bowl vs. Kentucky Wildcats
- Iowa State Cyclones - Liberty Bowl vs. Memphis Tigers
- TCU Horned Frogs - Rate Bowl vs. Northwestern Wildcats
- Kansas State Wildcats - Armed Forces Bowl vs. Navy Midshipmen

And as for the Big 12 members that are currently projected to be at home missing out on postseason action?

It’s be great for the Big 12 to see so many members making it into the postseason. Obviously it’d be better if the Red Raiders weren’t the only Big 12 team projected to make it to the College Football Playoff this season, but let’s still celebrate that Texas Tech is at this point in the projections.
