There's a brand new head coach in the Big 12. The Oklahoma State Cowboys have turned to a former Texas Tech Red Raider to lead their program forward as current North Texas Mean Green head coach Eric Morris will be leaving the Lone Star State soon enough to go coach in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Unsurprisingly, it looks like Oklahoma State football fans are pretty happy to have the former Texas Tech Red Raider leading their program moving forward. I’m absolutely fascinated by this hire and how it will play out for the Big 12.

But here’s how other college football fans are looking at this hire.

College football fans weigh in as the Oklahoma State Cowboys pick former Texas Tech wide receiver Eric Morris to lead their program

Morris’ time at Texas Tech feels like a noteworthy thing here. He thrived as a wide receiver in Mike Leach’s Air Raid offense and then also helped design impressive offenses with Kliff Kingsbury.

It sure looks like Oklahoma State fans are thrilled by this hire and are enjoying that old touchdown play involving Morris against the Sooners.

The guy’s history is really fascinating and the fact that there are connections to Oklahoma and Oklahoma State is intriguing. Bring back some of those old, classic Big 12 matchups, if you ask me.

And also his ability to go out and pick up incredibly underrated quarterbacks? That’s something that Oklahoma State fans are going to celebrate.

From a Texas Tech sort of perspective, t’s not ideal that Oklahoma State is the institution that gets to have Morris leading their football program moving forward, but it will certainly make the matchups between the Red Raiders and the Cowboys that much more interesting in the coming years.

It wouldn’t shock me at all to see these two teams (along with BYU, Utah, Houston, and Arizona State) routinely fight for the top spot in the Big 12 for the foreseeable future.
