Well, the 2025 edition of the Alamo Bowl didn’t play out as anything close to what I was expecting. Two of the most potent passing attacks met up in San Antonio and neither offense really thrived in this matchup between the USC Trojans and the TCU Horned Frogs.

USC gained a grand total of 392 yards of offense, including the overtime, while the Horned Frogs had 375 total yards of offense against the Trojans. But, for TCU, at least the Horned Frogs managed to secure a 30-27 overtime win over USC in San Antonio.

As a result, the Big 12 is now 3-0 in bowl games so far. The BYU Cougars beat the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in a close one. The Houston Cougars managed to take care of business against the LSU Tigers in a close one. And now the Horned Frogs keep things rolling for the Big 12 against USC.

College football fans weigh in as the Big 12 is still unbeaten following the TCU Horned Frogs shocking win over the USC Trojans

Here’s how fans reacted to Lincoln Riley and the Trojans collapsing late against Sonny Dykes and the Horned Frogs.

If you haven’t seen how this game ended, you should spend some time watching that play. Maybe a few dozen times. It truly was remarkable stuff.

Bowl games matter. These games matter. Don’t listen to anyone who wants to tell you otherwise. This is such a cool moment for Seals and his teammates.

I’m just about fully convinced that this is the one instance in which a team should have turned down a bowl invitation. I think USC may have been cursed. They shouldn’t have played this game. It was already predetermined on how it would end.

Oh, and Oklahoma fans certainly enjoyed the outcome of this one.

Yeah, they really enjoyed it. I’m sure it felt at least a little cathartic for them.

And while Texas Tech fans typically wouldn’t spend much time rooting for the Horned Frogs, rooting for the Big 12 to go out and stay unbeaten in bowl games isn’t the worst thing in the world.
