There’s no guarantee that the Arizona State Sun Devils will remain at the top of the Big 12 as we move forward. There’s no guarantee that they’ll continue to cause headaches for Texas Tech football fans. There’s no guarantee that Kenny Dillingham and his offense will continue to make things interesting in the conference.

But there is a guarantee that Dillingham will now have a ton of resources at his disposal to try to elevate the Arizona State Sun Devils into a routine contender in both the Big 12 and on the national level. The Arizona State football program is apparently investing a ton into their program (including into assistant coach salaries) to keep Dillingham with the Sun Devils.

And given how good Arizona State has looked over the past couple of seasons, that’s huge.

College football fans react as Arizona State makes a massive commitment to competing among the best in the Big 12

It’s a huge investment and it’s clear that the Sun Devils have enjoyed the success they’ve seen over the past couple of seasons. Don’t expect them to just disappear now that they’re throwing money at Dillingham and his coaching staff. It looks like Arizona State wants to truly compete with Texas Tech, BYU, and Utah to be at the top of the Big 12.

And here’s how college football fans are reacting to Arizona State’s financial commitment for the Sun Devils’ future.

Some folks took the opportunity to poke fun at the Michigan Wolverines not being able to secure Dillingham as their next coach. It looks like the folks in Ann Arbor still don’t have a head coach and it definitely won’t be Dillingham.

Arizona State fans were certainly thrilled to see the news. Which is fair! They’re keeping their head coach, expanding their resource pool, and putting themselves in great position to make things complicated for Texas Tech and other teams at the top of the Big 12 moving forward.

With Arizona State's win over Texas Tech this season (and their close loss to the Red Raiders last year), I think this move is absolutely fascinating. For the Big 12 as a whole, it's good to have more good programs continue to pour resources into their programs.

For Texas Tech? It means more challenging opponents in the years to come. And that could be fun to keep up with.
