Another big recruiting win for Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech Red Raiders! Texas Tech has apparently picked up yet another 5-star recruit as Cooper Hackett is now committed to join the Red Raiders’ 2027 recruiting class.

And that feels noteworthy.

Hackett, a 6-foot-7, 250-pound offensive lineman from Fort Gibson, Oklahoma is one of the highest rated offensive line recruits in the country. It looks like he’s intent on bringing his talents to Lubbock to help out the Red Raiders.

Which I, for one, think is a good thing.

According to On3/Rivals, Hackett is a 5-star and he ranks as the top player in the state of Oklahoma (and the third-best offensive tackle in the 2027 recruiting cycle). That’s a pretty impressive addition for Texas Tech to be able to get.

College football fans shocked as Joey McGuire and the Red Raiders get yet another 5-star commitment

Here’s what people had to say about the commitment for Texas Tech:

I mean, some folks weren’t exactly thrilled that Texas Tech is still continuing to recruit at a really high level. Some folks seemingly have some big feelings on the matter and they needed a way to express said big feelings.

And yeah. Some folks just really don’t seem to be happy that an underdog like the Texas Tech Red Raiders can be capable of going toe to toe with more prominent programs on the recruiting trail. You’d think folks would love to see a program like Texas Tech win these recruiting battles.

There were some who were legitimately supportive of the Red Raiders as they continue to do well in bringing talented players to Lubbock.

Texas Tech’s success on the recruiting trail is going to continue to be a pretty notable storyline and it’s going to be something that likely riles folks up every now and then. But as long as the Red Raiders are able to win there, and then pivot that recruiting success into on-field success, then things are working out for Texas Tech in the way they need to.
