Well, the 2026 Texas Tech football schedule has been released and it sure seems like something that the Red Raiders are going to enjoy playing.
Being fully transparent, I don’t think the Red Raiders are going to have massive trouble with the folks that are on their schedule unless some teams are significantly better than we currently expect them to be or Texas Tech runs into unexpected injury issues for some horrifying reason.
I mean, this schedule that Texas Tech has for next season is something that the Red Raiders should be able to get through without too many issues. It’s totally possible for the Texas Tech football team to get through it unbeaten.
College football fans weigh in as the 2026 Texas Tech football schedule has been revealed
The schedule, truly, isn’t all that difficult and that’s going to make folks more than just a little mad at the Big 12. And also probably at Texas Tech. Because, well, while the Big 12 set the conference schedule, that out of conference schedule isn’t exactly all that imposing. And that combination probably isn’t going to be something that people love!
There’s FCS schools with a harder schedule than this

I mean, Texas fans in particular don’t seem thrilled that the Red Raiders have a pretty smooth and hurdle-free schedule. When you consider how they moved from the Big 12 to the SEC and are now having to navigate a conference that is deeper, I get why they might be a bit upset about this one.
This is why conversations at the end of the year PMO, Tech, ND and Oregon all have cake ahhh schedules but will claim they are better at 12-0 than other teams at 10-2 with way harder schedules. Tech goes 7-5 in the SEC. https://t.co/35QZ3crXXW pic.twitter.com/ylhK9bh3uQ

Same with Notre Dame fans! They’re, uh, not happy about this either. And that may or may not have to do with pressures to join a conference as a full time member or something along those lines. I’m just spitballing here.
I would like to forward this to anyone talking about Notre Dame's 2026 schedule. https://t.co/gBGJwFBRbH

One of the weakest schedules I’ve ever seen.

Curious how Joey McGuire will make this about Notre Dame https://t.co/CG0ifV9ZTN

And yeah, it’s probably fair to go ahead and pencil Texas Tech into next season’s College Football Playoff bracket.
Congrats to Tech on being the first team in the 2026 College Football Playoffs https://t.co/5uAI5sA10E

MY COLUMN: https://t.co/8EXqZDlwkU
If the Red Raiders fall short, they’re going to get mocked. They’re already drawing plenty of ire and frustration from other fanbases, but a season that is short of something truly great is going to get plenty of attention from folks all over the country.
