After transferring from the Stanford Cardinal to play for Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech Red Raiders in newly hired defensive coordinator Shiel Wood’s defensive scheme, David Bailey was able to step in and completely and totally thrive for the Red Raiders.
Bailey was, by far, one of the most dominant defensive players in the country and was on the radar for plenty of awards throughout the season. And for good reason! He terrorized both opposing offensive linemen and quarterbacks all throughout the Big 12.
And if you need a reminder of just how terrifying Bailey could be while playing for Texas Tech this past season, check out the highlight reel that the Red Raiders put together for him ahead of the NFL Draft.

Here’s his top plays from the 2025 season:
There were a number of moments all throughout the season that showed just how dominant Bailey could be. Against the Kansas Jayhawks, Bailey managed to rack up six tackles and three sacks. When facing the Houston Cougars, Bailey recorded four tackles and two sacks along with three tackles for loss. Then there’s the trip to Arizona State, where he had five tackles, two sacks, and three tackles for loss.
While the matchup against Oregon ultimately got out of control, Bailey thrived against the Ducks’ offensive line, recording nine tackles and one sack in the College Football Playoff.
Through the entire season, Bailey managed to record 52 tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss, and 14.5 sacks. Along with that, he also had 13 quarterback hurries, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and three pass breakups.
With all that he accomplished this season, there’s no way NFL scouts aren’t paying close attention to him.
