In his first season with the Texas Tech Red Raiders, Mack Leftwich has done a great job of installing his offense and getting his version of the veer-and-shoot rolling in Lubbock. There were some hiccups early on in the season (even with Texas Tech’s offense scoring points by the dozen), but it certainly seems like things have improved as of late.

During a press conference following Texas Tech’s win over the UCF Knights and ahead of the Red Raiders’ road trip to Morgantown, West Virginia, Leftwich got the chance to talk about how the offense has come together.

And as Leftwich noted, the Red Raiders may have played their “cleanest game of the season” when Texas Tech crushed UCF last weekend.

Now Texas Tech is looking for consistency as they face the West Virginia Mountaineers.

Texas Tech offensive coordinator Mack Leftwich noted how the Red Raiders have improved on offense in their last game

“You know, you could argue, offensively, we played our cleanest game of the season last time we were out there, against Central Florida,” Leftwich explained in a press conference

What specifically did Texas Tech improve upon when crushing the Knights on Senior Day in Lubbock?

“We scored touchdowns in the red zone, were good on third down, you know, didn’t have any pre-snap penalties,” Leftwich said. “So, a lot of the things that had kind of maybe plagued us all year, or things that we wanted to see and had been working on, kind of came to fruition.”

That’s great to hear from the Red Raiders’ offensive coordinator as Texas Tech is getting closer and closer to the postseason.

With a win against the West Virginia Mountaineers, Texas Tech will get a shot to compete in the Big 12 championship. If they can take care of business in both of those games, they’ll make their way into the College Football Playoff without any sort of issue or question. And if the offense is clicking consistently, then winning those games becomes that much easier for the Red Raiders.
