After playing such a key and instrumental sort of role for the North Dakota State Bison for four seasons, Cole Wisniewski got a chance to play for Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech Red Raiders this past season. And he made the absolute most of it.

The 6-foot-4 safety was one of the most fascinating elements for the Red Raiders defense as the Texas Tech football team made a run to go compete for a Big 12 title in 2025 and ended up in the College Football Playoff.

Watch how Cole Wisniewski racked up 78 tackles and a Big 12 championship with the Texas Tech Red Raiders this past season

While Wisniewski wasn’t the most heavily publicized member of the Texas Tech defense, he was still fantastic to watch. You need to check out the highlight reel that the Red Raiders pieced together ahead of the 2026 edition of the NFL Draft.

There were several games during which Wisniewski had a significant impact on the outcome. Against the Utah Utes, on the road, Wisniewski managed to accumulate eight tackles and had a hand in getting the Red Raiders that early, dominant win.

When the Red Raiders faced off against Kansas State, he racked up another six tackles. And he did the same against the Arizona State Sun Devils, even though Texas Tech came up short in that matchup.

This season, for Texas Tech, Wisniewski started in all 14 games for the Red Raiders and racked up a total of 78 combined tackles, six tackles for loss, one sack, six pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.

In the entirety of his career with both NDSU and TTU, Wisniewski managed to record 267 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, eight interceptions, and 13 pass breakups across a total of 60 games.
