The Texas Tech Red Raiders are dealing with a pretty significant loss right now and it’s actually more significant than the fact that Grant McCasland and his team lost on the road against the Arizona State Sun Devils.
In that conference loss, Texas Tech’s leading scorer (and one of the best players not only on this team or in the Big 12 but also the entire country) JT Toppin suffered a leg injury in the final few minutes of the game.
Obviously, that’s a huge issue. It’s huge for Toppin personally, the Red Raiders as a team, and college basketball as a whole. Unfortunately, it definitely seems possible that this injury will have downstream impacts in some pretty significant ways.
And of course, college basketball fans are upset that Toppin was hurt. As a result, they’re showing support for the Texas Tech star.

Hope JT Toppin is okay. Want to see him get a chance to make a final four after that heartbreaker against Florida last year.

I’ve been telling everyone all year Texas Tech will be one of the hardest teams to beat in the tournament. JT Toppin going down with looks like ACL or something major will change the course of a lot of things going forward. For a LOT of teams.

You hate to see a guy like JT Toppin go down. He has been one of the absolute best players in the country this year.
You simply cannot replace that kind of impact.
Praying for him.

There are going to be fans who focus simply on what this means from a basketball perspective, but that shouldn't be all that matters to someone here.
Most importantly, it’s hard to see a young player get injured. For him and his teammates and those around him, this injury just flat out sucks and that’s who it’s impacting the most. For Toppin’s sake, above all other interests and rooting ambitions that we might have, hopefully he’s able to recover quickly and fully. That’s the biggest thing here.
And it's encouraging to see so many fans get that and show support for Toppin following his injury against Arizona State.
