College football fans react after Arizona Wildcats shut down Arizona State’s offense

To be completely honest, I wasn’t expecting the Arizona Wildcats to be able to go out and steamroll the Arizona State Sun Devils. And folks, that’s exactly what the Arizona Wildcats did when meeting up with the Sun Devils in the 2025 edition of the Territorial Cup. 

The Wildcats were able to consistently shut down Arizona State’s offense and the Sun Devils played an incredibly sloppy football game. Thus a 23-7 win for Arizona that made Wildcat football fans very happy and Arizona State football fans rather upset. 

And here’s how college football fans reacted to seeing Arizona State fall short against the Wildcats. 

Big 12 football fans weigh in as the Arizona State Sun Devils were shut down by the Arizona Wildcats

Yeah, I can’t blame Arizona State fans for being upset about this one. They have every right to be frustrated here seeing how rough their offensive performance was. Kenny Dillingham and the Arizona State coaching staff will have to figure a few things out ahead of next season (assuming Dillingham doesn’t get swept up in the coaching carousel, that is).

Unsurprisingly, Arizona fans were THRILLED to see this outcome. And they had some fun with some memes, which also isn’t totally surprising to see.

I mean, they were over the moon about this one. College football rivalries rock. 

The Wildcats are now 9-3 on the season and 6-3 against Big 12 teams. As for the Sun Devils, Arizona State has fallen to 8-4 overall and 6-3 in Big 12 play. Arizona deserves so much credit for the drastic year-over-year improvements from their team. 

Meanwhile, Arizona State fans are certainly right to be disappointed with the way this season has gone. They won the Big 12 a season ago and then made it all the way into the College Football Playoff last season. Now they’re on the outside looking in when it comes to the Big 12 championship game and they’ll be looking for a decent bowl spot.
