Friends, the Texas Tech Red Raiders are having a ton of fun on the recruiting trail and Texas Tech football fans are really enjoying that momentum. Everyone else? Well, there’s a bunch of mixed opinions out there right now with the way the Texas Tech coaching staff is getting commitments this offseason.
On Thursday, Joey McGuire and his staff were able to get a commitment from Ashton Rowden, a running back ranked as a 4-star by Rivals, and that led to a bunch of thoughts being shared on the internet.
Here’s what people had to say:

I, for one, appreciate these nice and fine comments that are complimentary towards Texas Tech and the way the Red Raiders are performing on the recruiting trail.
Now is a great time to give y’all a heads up that some folks have, uh, opinions about all of this.

Yeah, I've seen this kid play. I'm thinking 2-star. Whatever.

Is Texas Tech the Texas A&M of the BIG12? Lots of big time recruits but they don't win anything? https://t.co/rI8fhoVnWM

Some of the opinions are on whether or not Texas Tech will see any sort of improvement on the field along with the recruiting success that the Red Raiders are having. Some of the opinions are on Rowden himself. They’re, uh, opinions.

Okay, yeah, I got a chuckle out of this one.
Rewinding for a minute. If Texas Tech and McGuire want to get past the jokes of “Texas Tech doesn’t win anything” or the “7-5” stuff, then the Red Raiders really need to find a way to break through in the Big 12 at some point. The sooner the Red Raiders do that, the better (and also the sooner those jokes will stop).
And to be completely honest, this year would be a great opportunity for that. The Big 12 is volatile, the Red Raiders bolstered their roster with a very talented transfer portal haul, and there are some very bright minds on the coaching staff in Lubbock. Might as well do it this year, if you ask me.
