Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers didn’t have all that much fun in their recent road trip to Oxford, Mississippi. That’s because the No. 4 ranked Tigers team was unable to come out on top against the No. 13 Rebels. And that’s going to shake things up in the newest AP Poll that comes out on Sunday.
But that isn’t the only thing that will impact these rankings in some sort of significant way.
So, to go through things a bit here. The No. 4 team in the country lost. Along with that, the No. 3 team (Penn State) No. 5 team (Georgia), and No. 8 (Florida State) teams all lost as well. That could result in those teams dropping a bit (and possibly some falling out of the Top 10). Which, you know, if that were to happen, that would help the Red Raiders in some pretty significant ways.
But will that be exactly what plays out here?
AP Poll Top 25 college football rankings: Will Ole Miss beating the LSU Tigers help Texas Tech get into the Top 10?
Let’s look at the rankings that we came into the week with and figure some of this out, shall we?
- Ohio State Buckeyes
- Miami Hurricanes
- Penn State Nittany Lions
- LSU Tigers
- Georgia Bulldogs
- Oregon Ducks
- Oklahoma Sooners
- FSU Seminoles
- Texas A&M Aggies
- Texas Longhorns
- Indiana Hoosiers
- Texas Tech Red Raiders
- Ole Miss Rebels
- Iowa State Cyclones
- Tennessee Vols
- Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
- Alabama Crimson Tide
- Vanderbilt Commodores
- Michigan Wolverines
- Missouri Tigers
- USC Trojans
- Notre Dame Fighting Irish
- Illinois Fighting Illini
- TCU Horned Frogs
- BYU Cougars
It is absolutely worth noting here that Texas Tech isn’t the only team that could potentially move up in the Top 25 rankings. That is especially true because of the way the Red Raiders were resting during their bye week this week and not going out and getting another lopsided win.
Honestly, I suspect Ole Miss is going to leapfrog the Red Raiders here given that they just beat the No. 4 ranked team in the country. That would just flat out make a ton of sense, if you asked me to look at this objectively. Do I want to look at it objectively? Not really. But should we? Yeah.
And that’s just another reason as to why I think Texas Tech might be on the outside looking in of the AP Poll Top 10 rankings for yet another week.
