It is absolutely absurd that more people aren’t paying attention to what’s happening out in Lubbock so far this season. Absolutely absurd that Texas Tech isn’t getting more respect for what the Red Raiders have accomplished thus far this year.

And right now, it looks like both Desmond Howard and Nick Saban seem to agree that Texas Tech is still under-appreciated and being overlooked.

On College GameDay this morning, when asked which team isn’t getting the respect that it deserves, both Howard and Saban pointed out that they believe that the Red Raiders are the most under-appreciated team in the country.

For some reason, Pat McAfee picked Ole Miss, who is the No. 4 team in the country? Let's not get too much into that one.

Both Desmond Howard and Nick Saban are on board with the fact that Texas Tech is somehow not getting the respect it deserves this season

And that’s absolutely true.

Right now, the Red Raiders have the No. 1 total offense in the country, the No. 2 scoring offense in the country and the No. 9 total defense in the country. And still, despite the fact that Texas Tech is absolutely crushing folks left and right, the Red Raiders are ranked as the No. 9 team in the country in the latest AP Poll.

While it’s great that Texas Tech is in the top 10, as the Red Raiders should be, it’s still a little silly to me that Texas Tech isn’t ranked higher.

Texas Tech hasn’t played a perfect game yet. There’s still plenty of proving that the Red Raiders need to do as this season keeps rolling on. That said, Texas Tech has looked pretty dang impressive against both the Utah Utes (who are also being overlooked) and the Houston Cougars (who happen to be drastically better than what they were a year ago).

Tonight’s game against Kansas will be one such opportunity for the Red Raiders to go out and showcase just how good they can be. And as long as Texas Tech keeps winning, they’ll start getting more and more respect as the season continues on.
