The never-ending pursuit of offensive line talent will continue for the Texas Tech football program in a big way this weekend as one of the nation's top tackles is set to visit Lubbock. Hopefully, the Red Raiders can make a great impression because fixing this program's offensive line woes has to be head coach Joey McGuire's top priority.
Bryce Gilmore, a 6-foot-4, 270-pound offensive tackle from Prosper, Texas has announced on X that he will be in Lubbock for a visit this weekend. It will be a big recruiting weekend for the Texas Tech football program which is set to bring in a number of recruits on the first weekend that the students are back on campus from winter break and when the Texas Tech basketball team hosts new Big 12 rival Arizona at United Supermarkets Arena.
Gilmore will arguably be the top target on campus this weekend, though. He's rated a 4-star prospect by 247Sports.com's composite rankings.
Additionally, that site has him listed as the No. 206 overall player and No. 17 offensive tackle in the class of 2026. Along with Texas Tech, Gilmore has offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Nebraska, Miami, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Oregon, TCU, Utah, Washington, and others.
According to 247Sports, Gilmore took a visit to Florida State in November. Now, he's set to take his second visit, which will be to Lubbock.
What might work in Tech's favor in this recruiting battle is that the program has recently added two other Prosper, Texas offensive line products to the roster. In 2024, Tech signed 4-star offensive tackle Ellis Davis, and in the just-signed 2025 class, the program added 4-star tackle Connor Carty who was previously committed to Texas A&M.
Of course, McGuire and Co. are also trying to fix the immediate future of the offensive line while also preparing for the future. In the 2025 transfer class, McGuire has brought in three high-profile offensive line transfers, Hunter Zambrano from Illinois State, Will Jados from Miami (OH), and Howard Sampson from North Carolina.
While the portal will make up a huge portion of the 2025 offensive line, building that position group from the high school ranks is also critical. Thus, bringing in a player of Gilmore's pedigree would be a huge win for the Red Raiders. Hopefully, his weekend trip to Lubbock will make a great impression on him.
