In the upcoming Air Raid-centric Alamo Bowl, it looks like the ESPN Analytics Matchup Predictor has a pretty clear favorite. While both the USC Trojans and the TCU Horned Frogs have looked solid at times throughout the season, it’s the Trojans that are the noteworthy favorite by ESPN Analytics for this game.

At the moment, the ESPN Matchup Predictor has the Trojans with a 69.8 percent chance of beating TCU in San Antonio. That means that the Horned Frogs have a 30.2 percent chance of winning this game.

If you’re rooting for the Big 12 to remain unbeaten in bowl games this season, that means you’ve got to hope that the magical math machines that go into projecting games are wrong.

The ESPN Analytics Matchup Predictor is heavily favoring the USC Trojans for the 2025 Alamo Bowl

This particular bowl game is one that I’ve been looking forward to as I believe it’s going to be one of the most underrated matchups that the bowl season has to offer this year.

Up to this point in the season, TCU and USC have combined for 17 wins and they’ve got two of the best passing attacks in the country. TCU has been throwing the ball for 292.8 passing yards per game while the Trojans have been averaging 297.3 yards per game through the air.

Neither defense has really looked all that inspiring throughout the season. So when the Trojans and the Horned Frogs face off in San Antonio, we’re likely to see plenty of points and passing yards.

I’m here for it. I want to see that.

I want to see two coaches who learned from Mike Leach to have their teams throw the ball about a thousand times and give up a ton of fun.

USC and TCU will kickoff around 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. The Alamo Bowl will be hosted indoors in the Alamodome and it will be broadcast on ESPN.
