As we enter the conference championship week, it’s going to be very, very interesting to see just how things shape up for Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech Red Raiders. This weekend, Texas Tech will get the chance to meet up with the BYU Cougars once more in a Big 12 championship game that will allow for the Red Raiders to showcase their potential yet again.
This is a Texas Tech team that some are overlooking a bit because of the conference that the Red Raiders play in and the overall lack of a rigorous element to their schedule this season, but Texas Tech has done just about everything it was supposed to do this season. Throughout its 11 victories, the Red Raiders have managed to win by an average of 35.2 points.
Now, following Texas A&M’s 10-point road loss to the Texas Longhorns, the Red Raiders are moving up a bit in polls, predictions, and projections. And that includes from ESPN college football reporter Heather Dinich, who is bumping the Red Raiders up a little bit in her College Football Playoff projections.
ESPN’s Heather Dinich places Texas Tech Red Raiders at No. 4 in her latest College Football Playoff bracket predictions after Week 14
Dinich places the Red Raiders at No. 4 in her projected College Football Playoff bracket and she notes that she expects Joey McGuire and Texas Tech to go out and secure a win in the Big 12 championship game vs. BYU.
With Texas Tech at No. 4 in this bracket projection, the Red Raiders are in line to meet up with either the No. 12 seed Tulane Green Wave or the No. 5 seed Oregon Ducks in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal round.
And I think that’d be great.
It’d be fascinating to see the Red Raiders go out and compete against some of the best in the country with the goal of winning a national title. It’d also be great to see the Red Raiders get a bye in the opening round so that Texas Tech can take a bit of a breather and rest up a bit.
