At this point in the season, it’s becoming more and more apparent that Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech Red Raiders have a team that is (at least in theory) capable of competing for a college football championship this season.

And as this season has worn on, McGuire and his team of Red Raiders have gotten more and more attention, recognition, and respect for what they’ve accomplished. In all 11 of Texas Tech’s wins thus far this season, the Red Raiders have managed to win by at least 22 points. This is a team that can truly dominate its competition.

And so it shouldn’t be shocking to see the Red Raiders getting some more positive press when it comes to predictions and projections ahead of the 2025 College Football Playoff

ESPN CFB analysts Mark Schlabach and Kyle Bonagura show Texas Tech love with their most recent College Football Playoff projections

Following the Red Raiders 49-0 road win over the West Virginia Mountaineers (and also some other notable happenings, like the Texas Longhorns beating the Texas A&M Aggies by 10 points and such), Texas Tech is now sitting as a top four seed in College Football Playoff projections from both Mark Schlabach and Kyle Bonagura.

Schlabach has Texas Tech as the No. 4 seed and set to meet up with Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals game in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic.

As for Bonagura? Well, he has the Red Raiders as the No. 4 seed and matching up with the No. 5 seed Texas &M Aggies in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals game in the Capital One Orange Bowl.

I think both of those matchups (and the locations) would be interesting to keep up with. Obviously, I think the closer to Lubbock the games can be, the better. So getting more appearances in Arlington? That’d be great. You’ll get more Texas Tech fans there. Let’s make that one happen, shall we?
