Grant McCasland and the Texas Tech Red Raiders may not be able to turn to JT Toppin again this season due to a devastating knee injury that sidelined Texas Tech’s top player, but it doesn’t seem like the Red Raiders will need Toppin for their next matchup.Â
It’s either that or the ESPN Matchup Predictor tool just isn’t all that up to date on whether or not one of the clearly most dominant players in the country will be able to play on Saturday afternoon as the No. 13 ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders welcome the Kansas State Wildcats to town for a Big 12 matchup.
Why is ESPN so confident in Texas Tech’s abilities against Kansas State? I’m not entirely sure, but it’s clear that the Red Raiders have a great shot to win this one. At least that’s the case according to ESPN right now.
ESPN Matchup Predictor tool heavily favors the Texas Tech Red Raiders in their home game against the Kansas State Wildcats
Ahead of the matchup between the Red Raiders and the Wildcats, Texas Tech is being given an 89.2 percent chance of being able to beat Kansas State. And I, for one, would more than welcome it if the game unfolded in that sort of way.Â
And there are certainly a few things working in the favor of the Red Raiders right now. Texas Tech is 12-1 at home and Kansas State is sitting at 1-7 (though the Wildcats did just make a coaching change and it’s worth noting that the Red Raiders got the dozen home wins with JT Toppin being healthy).
Also, Kansas State did just manage to score 90 points in a home win against the Baylor Bears. It’s clear that K-State might have a bit more momentum than Texas Tech in that sort of regard.
