The field in the 2025 NCAA Softball Tournament is getting a little smaller each and every day. Now, there won’t be any teams sent home this afternoon or evening, but two of the eight Women’s College World Series teams (a quarter of the teams that were competing at this point in the season) were sent home last night after elimination games.
Day 2 of the 2025 Women’s College World Series was a bit rough for some folks, you know?
One such team was the Florida Gators. They’re on their way back to Gainesville after getting absolutely pummeled by the Tennessee Lady Volunteers. I mean, the Lady Vols jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the 1st inning against Florida. The Gators really didn’t stand much of a chance here.
Another such team that got sent home? Well, it was another SEC team. The Ole Miss Rebels lost to the Oregon Ducks (previously of the Pac-12, now a member of the Big Ten) and that really intriguing ride that Ole Miss was one has now come to an end.
So, what does the bracket look like at this point? What’s next for the WCWS after the Gators got sent back to Gainesville?
2025 Women’s College World Series bracket update: What’s next for the Tennessee Lady Vols after the Florida Gators were eliminated?
Here’s what the bracket looks like right now, on Day 3 of the 2025 Women’s College World Series:
We’re firmly in the winner’s bracket today. Nobody will head home after a loss this afternoon or evening. That said, the loser between the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the UCLA Bruins (hopefully that’s the UCLA Bruins and not the Texas Tech Red Raiders) will get the distinct pleasure of facing a Tennessee team that sure seems upset it lost on Day 1 against the Oklahoma Sooners.
The winner between Texas Tech and UCLA will get to stay in the winner’s bracket, which is a good thing. Winning is good. Losing is not so good.
