Folks, unfortunately, it’s looking like Patrick Mahomes is going to be out for the remainder of this season (and quite possibly a good bit after that). The former Texas Tech Red Raider quarterback who set a number of records while in Lubbock has apparently torn his ACL and will be going through a long, tricky recovery process.
Adding a slight bit of extra frustration for Kansas City fans would include the fact that Mahomes’ injury happened in a game that ultimately eliminated the Chiefs from making it to the playoffs.
This season has been unusually frustrating for the Chiefs as much of the past decade has been defined by great moments with Mahomes at quarterback, including three Super Bowl wins. But with their star quarterback suffering a devastating injury and Kansas City out of the playoffs, it’s a rough day for the Chiefs.
Also, you know, an incredibly rough day for Mahomes. These sorts of injuries aren’t easy to deal with. But with Mahomes out for the remainder of the season following the devastating knee injury, former NFL quarterbacks were quick to offer some words of support for the Texas Tech legend.

The best is yet to come for you brother.

Given this particular injury, it’s not shocking to see RGIII weigh in. He’s certainly familiar with this sort of territory and can definitely show some empathy for what Mahomes is going to go through with this recovery process.
Of course, it wasn’t just former NFL quarterbacks who decided to share some words of encouragement for Mahomes, there were plenty of other NFL legends who quickly made it known that they were supporting him as he recovered.
WE LOVE YOU MAN

And to no surprise, because of the popularity and status that Mahomes has, folks across sports (who also happen to maybe like the Chiefs) took the opportunity to weigh in.
Prayers for @PatrickMahomes. We’re here because of him, and we’ll be back because of him. @Chiefs

Mahomes is going to be out for a while. ACL tears are brutal and extensive. Mahomes has a long road ahead of him, but he thankfully should have access to quite literally everything he could need as he recovers and that includes a community of support. It’s never easy to bounce back from this and having community around you can make the process much smoother.
