A name that Texas Tech fans know well, Jerand Bradley, is back in the transfer portal for the second time. The wide receiver who left Texas Tech last offseason to play for Boston College is now looking for his third college in three years.
It wasn't a very productive year for the DeSoto, Texas native. Playing in nine games for the Eagles, he managed to haul in only six passes for 94 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Some of that had to do with the Eagles' run-heavy offensive system. In fact, Boston College's leading receiver on the season, Lewis Bond, caught only 60 passes for 590 yards and three scores this season.
Bradley found himself in a unique situation after committing to B.C. last year. That's because the coach he committed to, Jeff Hafley, left unexpectedly to become the defensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers in the NFL.
That meant that Bradley had to decide whether to try to find a new home before ever playing for the Eagles or to stay and play for new head coach Bill O'Brien. He chose the latter option but only for a year.
2024 was the second consecutive disappointing season for Bradley who was a highly-regarded 3-star prospect coming out of high school in the class of 2021. In 2022, as a sophomore, he had a strong season catching 51 passes for 744 yards and six TDs for the Red Raiders.
Entering 2023, he was named a preseason first-team All-Big 12 player but he didn't live up to that billing. He caught only 36 passes for 431 yards and four scores. Some of that regression was due to the limitations of the Texas Tech QB position last fall given the injury to Behren Morton's throwing shoulder, but some of that was due to Bradley's inability to take the next step and be a lead receiver.
After the 2023 campaign, the Red Raiders revamped their wide receiver corps by bringing in Caleb Douglas from Florida and Josh Kelly from Washington State. That came as players like Bradley, Myles Price, and Loic Fouonji left via the portal.
Texas Tech got the better end of that exchange as Kelly had a 1,000-yard season and Douglas caught 55 passes for 762 yards and six TDs. Thus, most Texas Tech fans likely forgot about Jerand Bradley who is now trying to revive his carer by hitting the portal once again.
