Right now, if the season ended today, Tim Tadlock and his Texas Tech Red Raiders would be on the outside looking in of the 2026 Big 12 baseball tournament.
And even though there’s still a few more weeks of conference play, it’s feeling highly unlikely that we’ll see the Red Raiders get a chance to contend for the Big 12 tournament in Surprise, Arizona on May 20-23. To be completely honest, it’d be kinda surprising if things played out in Texas Tech’s favor.
The Red Raiders are on a seven-game streak of losing against Big 12 teams and Texas Tech has managed to go 2-7 in Big 12 games that are away from Lubbock. So now, as they head to Waco to face off against another Big 12 team that is also struggling, it still feels unlikely that we’ll see the Red Raiders get a win there against Baylor.

That said, should the Red Raiders find a way to get a couple of wins against Baylor, and depending on what else happens around the conference, we could certainly see Texas Tech sneak its way into the top 12 of the Big 12 standings. It’s not likely, but it is possible. Tadlock and his Red Raiders need to win though. And that hasn’t been happening much lately.
