It is hard to believe, but the Texas Tech basketball team's regular season will come to an end tonight when the Red Raiders head to Tempe, Arizona to face the Arizona State Sun Devils. Hopefully, this matchup will be less stressful for the Red Raiders than the first meeting between these two teams was this season.

Back on February 12, Tech hosted ASU and had to fight tooth and nail to pick up a 111-106 double-overtime win in Lubbock. That was the game when forward JT Toppin had a career performance with 41 points and 15 rebounds to help his team avoid the upset. Also in that game, Darrion Williams was huge with 27 points and 5 rebounds.

Those performances were necessary because Arizona State had a pair of 20-point scorers, Adam Miller (22 points) and BJ Freeman (21 points). They were two of the five Sun Devils that reached double figures that night.

Since that game, ASU has gone just 1-5 with the single victory coming against Kansas State four games ago. They are currently riding a three-game losing streak and are in 15th place out of 16 teams in the Big 12 conference with a 4-15 conference record.

This ASU team looks different than the one that came to Lubbock, though. That's because Freeman has been dismissed from the team for "detrimental conduct".

Another Sun Devil who might not play tonight is star freshman Jayden Quaintance. The 6-foot-9 true freshman shot-blocking machine, who is a projected NBA lottery pick this summer, has not played since February 23 due to a knee injury. Of course, he missed the game between these teams in Lubbock due to an ankle injury. Quaintance averages 9.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game.

Though Arizona State is a poor team (just 13-17 overall), this is an important game for the Red Raiders in their pursuit of a potential No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Suffering a loss to a team with such a poor record would possibly end any hopes of earning a No. 2 seed and would send Tech into next week's Big 12 Tournament with the wrong type of momentum.

Because Texas Tech basketball is red-hot right now, folks all over Raiderland will be by the television to check out tonight's action, the final game before the madness of March begins to ramp up. So here's a look at everything fans need to know ahead of this contest.
