The Rich Rodriguez return to Morgantown, West Virginia is officially upon us. We get to witness the West Virginia Mountaineers face off against Robert Morris in a Week 1 matchup. And maybe that’ll go a bit more smoothly than the reboot of the Scott Frost era of UCF football?
West Virginia is a pretty heavy favorite in this game (as the Mountaineers should be) and the ESPN Analytics Matchup Predictor is giving Rodriguez and West Virginia a 98.7 percent chance of coming out on top of this game.
Honestly, that feels a little low.
To keep up with the Mountaineers as they take on the Colonials, here’s everything you might possibly need:

How does this impact the Big 12?
There’s not much of a lasting impact that this game can have on the Big 12 landscape. I just don’t foresee that happening here. That said, this is a great opportunity for the conference to get a nice, smooth win and for the Mountaineers to make their presence known a bit.
It’s going to be interesting to see how the first year of the second Rich Rod era at West Virginia will go. I’m intrigued by what their offense will look like and how quickly this program can get things clicking. This is a chance to get a bit of insight into what things might look like.
Why should Texas Tech fans care about this game?
It’s going to be a few weeks, but Texas Tech will get a chance to play the Mountaineers and that game will not be in Lubbock. Joey McGuire and the Red Raiders will have to face off against Rich Rodriguez and the Mountaineers on November 29.
As of right now, ESPN’s Matchup Predictor has that game theoretically going either way. TTU has a 55.8 percent chance of winning that game. A lot can change between now and then and it’ll be interesting to keep tabs on the Mountaineers this season.
