Fresh off of claiming the Big 12 regular season championship by beating the Arizona State Sun Devils in a road series sweep in Tempe (and also basically everyone else that they’ve played this season), Gerry Glasco and the Texas Tech Red Raiders softball team are back in Lubbock and ready to play one more midweek matchup.
Tuesday evening, Texas Tech is set to host the Tarleton State Texans in a contest that should be pretty easy for the Red Raiders to get a win in (though the Texans do have a pretty solid record, especially against conference foes).
Texas Tech enters the matchup with a five-game winning streak and is looking to continue building momentum heading into the final regular season series as the Red Raiders face the Baylor Bears this weekend. Meanwhile, Tarleton is set to host the WAC Tournament in a little over a week and this could be a good opportunity for them to prove their potential.

As a team, the Texans do have a pretty solid batting average. They’re hitting .320 as a team heading into this game. But, the Texans struggle a bit with power and have only managed to hit 42 home runs so far this season.
The Texans aren’t the most imposing team that the Red Raiders have faced this season and their pitching staff does tend to struggle a bit. Right now, Tarleton State, as a team, has a 4.58 ERA. With the way Texas Tech is hitting the ball right now, it’ll be interesting to see what the Red Raiders are able to do at the plate in this game.
