Folks, game one of this weekend’s series went just about as well as Texas Tech softball fans could have hoped for. As Gerry Glasco and the Texas Tech Red Raiders hit the road for the final time this season to face off against the Arizona State Sun Devils in a three game series, Kaitlyn Terry really helped elevate the Red Raiders to get a shutout win on Friday.
Terry was dominant as she tossed a complete game. And because of how good she was (and how effective Taylor Pannell and Desirae Spearman were at the plate as they each hammered two-run home runs), Texas Tech got a 6-0 win and is now in position to claim yet another Big 12 series.
Now, that sets NiJaree Canady up nicely to step in and secure a series victory over a really respectable Arizona state Sun Devils team. Assuming that’s who Texas Tech turns to, that is. This season, Canady has managed to strike out 166 opposing batters and has recorded a 1.34 ERA.
The duo of Canady and Terry have been so consistently impressive and it’s put the Red Raiders in a great position for the postseason.
