With Gerry Glasco’s Texas Tech Red Raiders taking care of things easily on Thursday night, the Texas Tech softball team is officially just one win away from having 50 wins in the regular season. It wouldn’t take much for the Red Raiders to get there, but we know they’re not there yet.

In addition to that 50th regular season win, Texas Tech is looking to claim yet another Big 12 conference series. And the Red Raiders are in the perfect position to do just that as they meet up with the Bears yet again on Friday.

Here’s everything you need to know as the Texas Tech Red Raiders host the Baylor Bears for a Friday night Game 2 of this series

Here’s everything you need to know as the Red Raiders and Bears are back at it again Friday night.

  • Who: Baylor Bears (27-24 overall, 9-13 Big 12) at Texas Tech Red Raiders (49-4 overall, 20-2 Big 12)
  • When: Friday, May 1, 2026 at 6 p.m.
  • Where: Lubbock, Texas
  • Venue: Tracy Sellers Field
  • TV Channel: ESPN+

Texas Tech looked really impressive in the Red Raiders’ Game 1 win. Sure, the Red Raiders weren’t perfect, the Baylor pitching efforts were fairly impressive and kept Texas Tech below its season averages in a few different areas.

But still, it’s hard to complain about a 5-0 win over a conference foe.

That’s especially true when you consider just how good Kaitlyn Terry was in the circle for the Red Raiders or the timely hitting that Texas Tech was able to get from Mia Williams, Jasmyn Burns, Lauren Allred, and Taylor Pannell.

So yeah, Texas Tech may not have been perfect, but the Red Raiders still played like a very complete team and they look like a group that could continue to thrive over the next few weeks.
