It seems like Texas Tech head coach Joey Mcguire is a coach that doesn’t really hold back when sharing his thoughts on various different matters.

Whether it’s praise for his players, thoughts on the College Football Playoff process, or a whole heaping helping of appreciation for Texas Tech football fans, the head coach of the Red Raiders has been pretty vocal in making his thoughts known.

McGuire certainly isn’t the only coach like that. He’s probably not the most well-known coach who does that. There’s a guy over in the Big Ten who is very active in speaking his mind. Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning certainly fits that bill.

And as it turns out, McGuire is a pretty big fan of the head coach of the Oregon football team. Though for all the reasons that McGuire listed during a recent episode of the What’s Next! with Joey McGuire podcast, none of them had to do with the way they’re both open in sharing their opinions.

When McGuire was asked about his connection to Lanning, the head coach of the Red Raiders was very quick to praise his counterpart in Eugene, Oregon.

“I love him, man,” McGuire said. “I think he’s a rockstar. I have a lot of respect for him, I think that he has a lot of respect for us, playing each other a few years ago in a great game.”

To be completely honest, it would have been a bit better had McGuire and the Red Raiders managed to win that game a few years ago.

“I think it ended up being 38-30 and went back and forth,” McGuire continued. “We had the lead in the fourth and turned the ball over back-to-back times.”

It’ll be interesting to see if Texas Tech and Oregon will get to meet up in the College Football Playoff. Right now, it doesn’t seem like a likely matchup, but it’s not impossible as long as both teams make it.
