It’s been quite some time since the Texas Tech Red Raiders have gotten the distinct pleasure of getting to face off against the University of Utah, but something that is absolutely worth knowing is that the Texas Red Raiders have never played against Utah in Salt Lake City.
In 2025, that will change as we will get to see the Red Raiders take a road trip to meet up with the Utes in their home stadium. This is also just the third time these two teams will have ever faced each other. I mean, the history in this series is very small. There’s a miniscule sample size here.
Because the last time that these two teams met up was back in 1973 in Lubbock. Quite frankly, a lot of changes have taken place (for both of these football programs, for both of these universities, for the conferences they play in, and for the world in general) between 1973 and 2025.
But when will this game take place this season?
2025 Texas Tech football schedule: When will the Red Raiders face the Utah Utes?
The Red Raiders will hit the road to face the Utes in Salt Lake City in what will be the fourth game of the 2025 Texas Tech football season. On September 20, Tech and Utah will meet up in a Big 12 matchup that could certainly have consequences that impact the race towards a conference championship.
And that road trip to Salt Lake City, in addition to being the first time ever that TTU has made its way over to Utah for an away game, will also be the first time these two teams have met in a grand total of 52 years.
Which, you know, is a pretty long time to go without playing someone. Shoutout to conference realignment for bringing these two teams back together again.
