With starting quarterback Behren Morton running out of eligibility and backup quarterback Will Hammond recovering from a torn ACL that will keep him out for most of next season, Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech Red Raiders are in need of at least one transfer portal quarterback who can step in and start for the Texas Tech football team next season.

There’s at least one Texan who competed for another Big 12 team who might be a great fit in Lubbock next season.

Cincinnati Bearcats quarterback Brendan Sorsby has hit the transfer portal and he’s going to be looking for a new home after playing some pretty impressive football over the past couple of seasons.

Will the Texas Tech Red Raiders be able to pick up Cincinnati Bearcats quarterback Brendan Sorsby through the transfer portal?

Sorsby, a native of North Texas, is fresh off of a season in which he threw for 2800 yards and 27 touchdowns against five picks while also rushing for 580 yards and nine touchdowns.

And while it’s clear that plenty of teams are going to be interested in the seasoned signal caller who has over 7200 passing yards and 60 touchdown passes throughout his career thanks to time with both the Cincinnati Bearcats and Indiana Hoosiers, it’s absolutely fascinating that James Blanchard, the General Manager of the Red Raiders, retweeted Sorsby’s announcement.

I mean, it could be nothing.

Maybe the man who is in charge of helping the Red Raiders throw tons of money at players in hopes of elevating the Texas Tech football program to unprecedented heights is just wanting to celebrate Sorsby for his time with the Bearcats. Maybe Blanchard thought that the note and the social media graphic are just very well done and he wanted to show appreciation for that.

Or, well, maybe Blanchard is ready to throw a ton of money at Sorsby in the pursuit of bringing a Big 12 starting quarterback who has proven himself to be quite capable of thriving in this league to Lubbock to be the next starting quarterback for the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

I guess we’ll find out soon enough. It’s interesting. Maybe it’s nothing. Maybe I’ve been wearing a tin foil hat for no good reason. Or maybe we’ll see Sorsby throwing touchdowns in Lubbock next season.
