One of the best things about college football, wherever you are, is seeing the way fans get so emotionally wrapped up and invested in their favorite team’s success. Some fanbases are a bit more noteworthy than others and some are more vocal than others. And some fanbases really get involved and show up with intense levels of energy and excitement.

With the way this offseason has gone, Texas Tech fans, as a group, certainly count amongst those fanbases that are fully on board and excited about what can happen with this season. And that has to be an exciting thing for a young coach to be a part of.

Like new Texas Tech offensive coordinator Mack Leftwich, for example. He’s young and he’s coached at a few different stops. And now he’s getting a chance to coach in Lubbock, where folks are really excited about how things might play out this season.

That excitement is apparently something Leftwich has really enjoyed.

Texas Tech’s offensive coordinator has enjoyed seeing Red Raider fans energized ahead of this football season

Earlier this week, during a press conference, Leftwich was given the chance to chat about this excitement from Texas Tech football fans.

“I think it’s been really cool,” Leftwich said. “I think that’s one of my favorite parts about being here over the last however many, eight months, nine months that I’ve been a Red Raider. Just the excitement level and the passion that this fanbase has.”

It’s certainly something to be a part of and Leftwich got hired at the right sort of time to enjoy this sort of energy. And of course, his presence in Lubbock is a good part of why Texas Tech fans are excited.

“Doing a couple of these events this week, like the kickoff lunch and seeing all that, and seeing the highlight videos and you know, it has made me ready for Saturday,” Texas Tech’s OC explained.

I can’t blame him. I think Texas Tech football fans are ready for this week’s matchup against Arkansas-Pine Bluff as well. They’re ready to see what this season will end up looking like.
