Well, it looks like Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech Red Raiders might need to keep an eye on one of their commits for the 2027 Texas Tech recruiting class as he travels around the country. Brody Pfannenstiel, one of the two commits to Texas Tech from outside of the state of Texas has decided to go visit a few teams in the Midwest and one may have caught his eye.

The Wisconsin Badgers are apparently interested in Pfannenstiel’s services and Luke Fickell’s team is apparently set to host the 3-star edge from Hoisington, Kansas this weekend. There’s obviously no guarantee that he will flip from the Red Raiders, but he’s apparently at least interested in visiting Madison, Wisconsin.

Pfannenstiel has publicly acknowledged that he’s committed to Texas Tech while still taking this visit, but apparently it’s not totally set and locked down for him?

Which is interesting.

Pfannenstiel’s reported comment is especially intriguing because it’s not like the Badgers are the last team that he’ll be visiting with. After his trip to Madison, Wisconsin on Friday, he’s also apparently set to visit the Kansas Jayhawks on the same day, according to his profile on 247 Sports.

After that, Pfannenstiel will apparently be in Lubbock to visit the Red Raiders on Friday, June 12 and then he has a trip to Manhattan, Kansas scheduled for a visit with the Kansas State Wildcats on Friday, June 19.

Here’s what Texas Tech’s recruiting class looks like right now, according to 247 Sports:

  • Jalen Brewster - 5-star defensive lineman
  • Anthony Sweeney - 4-star edge
  • Benny Easter Jr. - 4-star wide receiver
  • Kavian Bryant - 4-star quarterback
  • SaRado Baker - 4-star running back
  • K’Adrian Redmond - 4-star defensive lineman
  • Julian Caldwell - 4-star wide receiver
  • Jhadyn Nelson - 3-star linebacker
  • Brody Phannenstiel - 3-star edge
  • Khyren Haywood - 3-star defensive lineman

Pfannenstiel isn’t the highest rated recruit for the Red Raiders, but he’s still a pretty interesting piece of a very talented defensive front that Texas Tech could be building in this recruiting class. McGuire and his coaching staff are really loading up on defensive talent so far, which has to excite Shiel Wood, Texas Tech’s defensive coordinator.

It’d be great if Texas Tech could hold on to Pfannenstiel and continue to build that front seven for the Red Raiders.
