Look, Josiah Moseley may not have started for Texas Tech when the No. 16 Red Raiders went to Ames, Iowa to meet up with the No. 4 Iowa State Cyclones. Moseley may not have played the most minutes in the Red Raiders’ really enjoyable victory over Iowa State.

He wasn’t the most efficient member of Texas Tech's team. But, yeah, he was really, really good and played the sort of role that Texas Tech absolutely needed him to play. In just 21 minutes off the bench, the Red Raiders were able to get 10 points from Moseley as part of a rather effective (and truly holistic) sort of outing.

In 21 minutes on the court, in addition to those 10 points that he scored, Moseley also managed to grab nine rebounds and block three shots. Which, you know, that’s all really solid work, even if he’d played closer to 30-35 minutes in this game.

That fact that it was just 21 minutes and he did that makes it all the more impressive.

Josiah Moseley may have been Texas Tech’s secret weapon as the No. 16 Red Raiders upset the No. 4 Iowa State Cyclones in Ames

Moseley might not be able to fully replace everything that JT Toppin did for the Red Raiders, but it really looks like he can step up in a very meaningful way. There’s a clear void on the court with Toppin out for his ACL injury. That’s just a fact. But right now, three games into this stretch without Toppin, several players have helped fill that gap.

And Moseley might just be the latest one to do that. As Toppin will miss the remainder of the year, Moseley being available (and producing at a high level when he’s on the court) makes that absence not sting quite so much.
