Well, the Kansas City Chiefs won’t be making it to the playoffs this season, but something tells me that’s not what most folks up there are concerned or upset about. This season has been an absolute mess for Kansas City and they’ve now lost three in a row, which is keeping them out of the playoffs.

No, I suppose most Kansas City Chiefs fans are a bit more preoccupied being upset about the fact that Texas Tech Red Raiders quarterback legend Patrick Mahomes (who is also a Kansas City Chiefs quarterback legend now) is going to be sidelined for quite some time due to a torn ACL in Sunday’s 16-13 loss for the Chiefs.

As the Chiefs were playing the Los Angeles Chargers, with Kansas City down 16-13, Mahomes was working on leading a drive to try and get his team a chance to win. But late in the fourth quarter, Mahomes was tackled and suffered a devastating injury that has sidelined him for the remainder of the season.

Which, there’s not much season left to play (especially with Kansas City getting kicked out of contention for a spot in the playoffs), but still, the Chiefs are likely to be worried about how long it will take Mahomes to heal.

It could take quite some time before he’s ready to play again.

While very clearly a notable figure for the Kansas City Chiefs, Mahomes has been a key figure for the Texas Tech football program ever since he played for the Red Raiders and absolutely thrived out in Lubbock.

He set a ton of records for Texas Tech and in the entirety of his career, Mahomes managed to throw for over 11,000 yards and a total of 93 touchdowns in just three seasons of play. During his junior season, Mahomes threw for 5052 yards and 41 touchdowns. He was incredible and it’s still such a shame that the Red Raiders didn’t accomplish more while he was in Lubbock.

Now he’s injured. He’s going to be out for a while. The whole situation sucks. There’s nothing good about it.
