The Kansas State Wildcats have been a really weird team to keep up with this season and right now we’re looking at a program that has found a way to bounce back and cause a little bit of chaos in the middle of the conference.

Early on in the season, it seemed like Kansas State was going to be in for a rough season. And while the Wildcats have underachieved this year, they’ve managed to get back to .500 by winning three of their last four games, including this matchup with the Jayhawks in incredibly dominant fashion.

Kansas State just claimed a 42-17 blowout in their annual rivalry matchup and it looks like the Wildcats might be a team that could cause some headaches for folks who aren’t keeping a close eye on them.

Texas Tech can’t afford to just walk into Manhattan and assume that they’re going to win.

From the explosive passing game with Avery Johnson to a defense that caused several early stumbles and turnovers from the Jayhawks, the Kansas State Wildcats have figured out a few things and looked great as they jumped out to an early lead against Kansas.

What do Texas Tech fans need to know about this game?

This was a blowout in just about every aspect.

Kansas State gained 7.0 yards per play while the Jayhawks had just 3.2 yards per play. The Wildcats managed to get four sacks on KU quarterback Jalon Daniels while the Kansas State offensive line kept Avery Johnson upright. Kansas State gained over 120 more yards of total offense than the Jayhawks were able to get.

It is going to be absolutely fascinating to see how the Texas Tech football team tries to handle a surging Kansas State team. The Red Raiders are about to go on the road to Manhattan to face Kansas State as the Wildcats have seemingly found a way to be a menace to Big 12 teams as of late.

Against Kansas, the Wildcats managed to take advantage of some early turnovers and got after Jalon Daniels, sacking the KU quarterback early and forcing mistakes from the Jayhawks offense in the process. And then there’s the fact that the Wildcats managed to take advantage of explosive plays where Kansas just simply had no answer for that.

Add in the fact that the Jayhawks rushing attack was neutralized and things really worked out well for Kansas State in this game. And that’s something that Texas Tech will need to make sure doesn’t happen to them this coming week.

The Wildcats are now 4-4 overall and 3-2 in Big 12 play after getting started with a 1-3 record. Texas Tech can't just take this one easy and assume the Red Raiders are going to win. The Wildcats could certainly be a problem.
