Well, that sure was something. Nerve-wracking. Exhilarating. Terrifying. Any and all of the above seem to fit. But it worked out. Gerry Glasco and the Texas Tech softball team are still going. They survived yet again.
This season isn’t done yet. The Red Raiders are ready to play another game against the Alabama Crimson Tide after a walk off home run hit by Mia Williams to force an elimination matchup that will decide who ends up in the Women’s College World Series championship series.
In a back-and-forth affair that went down to the wire, the Red Raiders managed to come out on top, beating Alabama 5-4 thanks to a walk-off home run from Mia Williams.

The Red Raiders needed that hit. It came at just the right time. In the top half of the seventh inning, Alabama had just tied things up at 4-4 with a two-run home run. So, in the bottom half, with Williams leading off for the Red Raiders, Texas Tech was given a game-winning homer to put the Crimson Tide away.
And now Texas Tech’s season gets to continue. At least one more game is on the Red Raiders’ schedule. Texas Tech has survived yet another close call and found a way to get a win.
Understandably, Texas Tech softball fans are really enjoying this moment. The Red Raiders get to play another game in Oklahoma City as they try to stay alive and earn a spot in the WCWS finals against the Texas Longhorns.

Texas Tech somehow needs to find a way to get one more win. Just one more win and things reset a bit for the Red Raiders. They won’t be on the brink of elimination and they can face Texas in a best-of-three series for a national title. Just one more win to get there.
