One of the more contested and debated entrants in the 2025-2026 College Football Playoff (largely because of the weird tiebreaker situation in the ACC that kept the Hurricanes out of the conference championship game over there and paved the way for former Miami head coach Manny Diaz and Duke to win the ACC championship), the Miami Hurricanes have been a bit streaky at times this season.
This is a team that started off strong, winning five in a row (including a few blowouts) before stumbling and losing two of three in the middle of October to early November. Then the Hurricanes closed the season out by absolutely streamrolling four teams to get to 10-2.
The Hurricanes got their spot in the College Football Playoff and they’re set to face the Texas A&M Aggies. Here’s what Texas Tech Red Raider fans need to know about them.
Everything Texas Tech fans need to know about the Miami Hurricanes as they head to College Station to face the Texas A&M Aggies in the CFP
- Record: 10-2 overall, 6-2 ACC
- Conference: ACC
- Head coach: Mario Cristobal
- Stadium: Hard Rock Stadium
- Location: Miami, Florida
We’ve seen Cristobal and the Hurricanes really secure some impressive wins all throughout the season. From beating the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to get everything started back in August to crushing the South Florida Bulls in a season in which USF was really strong, Miami has played like a really solid team for much of the year.
But there was that loss to the Louisville Cardinals, where Carson Beck threw a bunch of interceptions. And then a couple weeks later, Miami managed to lose to the SMU Mustangs in Dallas in overtime. Which, you know, wasn’t great! And those two losses ended up keeping Miami out of the ACC Championship Game (and also almost the College Football Playoff).
This game against Texas A&M, on the road and in the CFP, is a great chance for Beck, Cristobal, and the rest of the Hurricanes to go out and definitively prove that they belong at this point in the season.
Given where each team is sitting in the CFP bracket, the Red Raiders won’t run into the Hurricanes at any point in the College Football Playoff unless both Texas Tech and Miami manage to make it to the national title game. That certainly is something that could theoretically happen. It’ll be interesting to see if it does.
