Well, while the first four Texas Tech Red Raiders off the board in the 2026 NFL Draft were stars for the Texas Tech defense, Caleb Douglas became the first offensive player from the Red Raiders to be selected. And interestingly enough, he was the second Texas Tech player to be picked by the Miami Dolphins.
With the No. 75 overall pick of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Dolphins decided to add Douglas to their draft class. That made him the fifth Red Raider selected in the Draft. The first being David Bailey, the second being the aforementioned Rodriguez, the third being Lee Hunter, and the fourth being Romello Height.
Now, after two really impressive seasons of playing in Texas Tech’s offense, Douglas has earned his shot to play in the NFL.

This season, Douglas managed to help lead the Red Raiders to win the Big 12 championship and make the College Football Playoff as he caught 54 passes for 846 yards, and seven scores. Which was actually really similar to what he accomplished in 2024 as he caught 60 passes for 877 yards and six touchdowns.

So, in two seasons with the Red Raiders, he recorded 114 receptions for 1723 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. Prior to playing for Texas Tech, Douglas played for the Florida Gators, where he caught a total of 21 passes for 308 yards and three touchdowns in just 13 games across two seasons.Â
Douglas’ story is another that shows how the Red Raiders were able to elevate a really talented athlete and gave him the opportunity to thrive. And he certainly thrived while at Texas Tech. As a wide receiver, he got to play in an offense that involved passing the ball a lot and taking deep shots. And now he’s on to the NFL.
